Mountain View Correctional Institution is a male medium-custody NCDAC prison at 545 Amity Park Road in Spruce Pine. It is not in Yancey County. The official Yancey Sheriff page documents the local holding and state-transport role. NCDAC chooses later placement, and its history must connect an individual to Mountain View.

District 24 is a useful local contact, but the state record may assign a released person elsewhere. Confirm the office in the NCDAC detail before relying on the Burnsville contact.
Mountain View Custody History
Mountain View’s institutional history differs from nearby Avery-Mitchell. The facility opened under private operation in 1998, became state-operated in October 2000, and was later purchased by the state. Today the responsible corrections authority is NCDAC. Historical operator details do not change the current search route, and old references should not send a release request to a former private operator.

Nearby geography can be misleading. Mountain View and Avery-Mitchell have separate official pages and phone numbers. Neither is the Yancey prison, and a Yancey jail transfer must be traced through the receiving record before either institution is named.
